Research Guidelines

1) Once you have selected a topic of interest, brainstorm keywords that relate to that topic. Do some background reading in your class text to build a list of keywords and alternate search terms such as "Choson Dynasty" or "Joseon Dynasty" and "Khmer Empire" or "Angkor Empire".

2) Use the databases and websites below to search for more information about your topic.

3) If you use websites beyond what is posted on this LibGuide, use the ABC's of website evaluation. For this topic, focus on the authors/creators of websites you find.

A is for Authority: Who is the author? Is the author a credible source? Did they cite their sources?
B is for Bias: What is the author's/organization's intent? Are there ads on the website?
C is for Current Content: Does your topic require the most current information? Has the information been recently updated?

3) Start a project in NoodleTools and share it with your teacher's project inbox. Track and annotate your sources and take notes using NoodleTools. Make sure that each notecard is connected to a source. See the sample notecard below*

4) Annotate your sources in NoodleTools. Explain why you think each source is valuable for your research. Consider the Origin, Purpose, Value and Limitation of each source as you annotate.
