Roland Park Country School: Middle School Summer Reading 2023

RPCS Libraries

Assigned Summer Reading Information

Hello students! On this LibGuide you will find the titles required and recommended by the Middle School English and history teachers, as well as your librarian. The required titles are organized in grade level boxes below. Each grade level is required to read three titles (including one from the Power of Words box), but we encourage you to read more! Check out the many wonderful titles listed below the required options.

Each book on this LibGuide is linked to the Ivy Bookshop’s corresponding page. On the Ivy’s page for each book, students and parents can read a longer summary, reviews, and find more information on page count, format, and recommended age level. Ms. Fox has also noted under each book "YA" for Young Adult titles intended for our older readers and "MS" for Middle School titles which are appropriate for all middle school readers. If you would like further guidance in selecting summer reading titles, please reach out to Ms. Fox (foxs@rpcs.org).

Ready for a challenge? đź“š How many books can you read this summer between June 3 and August 31? Fill out this form every time you finish reading a book!  Prizes will be awarded in the fall for the reader with the most books in each grade. For the class with the highest total books, a special treat will be the reward. Required summer reading titles can be included.

While you can no longer access our physical library the summer, you can access many of these titles through our SORA digital library. Did you know that you can expand our SORA collection by connecting it to your public library's collection? If you don't see a title on SORA that you want to read, send an email to Ms. Fox (foxs@rpcs.org).

The Ivy Bookshop is offering a 10% discount on all summer reading. Families can visit the shop, which is open every day from 10am-7pm, or the Ivy Bookshop's website, where they can use the coupon code SUMMER10 to take advantage of the discount.

Happy Reading!
